Grandi

This piece is part of the research 'Grandi' in which Chiron Floris (1994) explores her potential history in a tactile way. The work is inspired by an ancient Sardinian tradition called 'Sa punga' in which people sew a cloth bag with sacred earth, grain, herbs, etc. on clothes at the place where the heart is. This brings good luck.

In this work, the function of the object has shifted from wearable to symbolic, questioning the relationship people have with clothing today and expressing the need for revaluation of wearable objects.

This work was realised during the "Frees" residency programme at Terzomolare and Campanello House in Cagliari, October 2023.
